2014 Performance Diary


6th – Stewart joins Mezzo Soprano Lotte Betts-Dean for a recital at the Brunswick Beethoven Festival. Including songs by Brahms, Schubert, Liszt, Alma Mahler, Beethoven, Hahn, Debussy and Sutherland. 20th – Stewart performs his first fellowship recital at the Australian National Academy of Music, exploring music of forgotten romantic composers.

23rd – Stewart performs the Mozart Piano Quartet in g minor with Nigel Bardsley, Nick Stefan and Belinda Manwaring as well as works by students of Ms Manwaring. 2pm, Gold Coast Youth Orchestra Centre. Tickets at the door.


11 Concert with the Townsville Choral Society, Dance North Studios.

18-21 North Queensland Eisteddfod, Mackay. Stewart performs as pianist to the Townsville Choral Society.

28th – Recital with Justin Beere (clarinet) as part of his Artist-in-Residence at All Saints Anglican School, Queensland

1st – Stewart performs the Chopin cello sonata with Patrick Murphy at the 4MBS Festival. Ian Hanger Recital Hall, Queensland Conservatorium

24th – Stewart performs the ‘Trio in One Movement’ by Arnold Bax with Francesca Hiew (violin) and Tom Higham (viola) for Tom’s fellowship project, ANAM. South Melbourne Town Hall, 6.30pm anam.com.au for details

27th – July 7 – ‘The Passion of Italy’ Tour with The Southport School Chorale. Three performances in Rome (including St Peters Basilica) plus concerts in Pisa and Venice.


26 – Concert with Nigel Bardsley, Nick Stefan and Belinda Manwaring including the Piano Quartet by Suk and works including Shostakovich Cello Sonata, Saint-Saens Cello Concerto and Bach Gamba sonatas.

31 – August 10 – Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Townsville. Stewart performs as official pianist to the Winterschool with repertoire including Mozart Piano Quartet in g minor, Shostakovich Violin Concerto no. 1, Brahms viola sonata in f minor, Mozart bassoon and clarinet concertos, Ravel Mother Goose suite and more.


19 – Second recital in Stewart’s fellowship project ‘Forgotten Romantics’ at the Australian National Academy of Music, South Melbourne Town Hall, 6.30pm.

Fibich – Quintet for violin, clarinet, cello, horn and piano op. 42 (with Thibaud Pavlovic-Hobba, Justin Beere, Jack Bailey, Georgia Ioakimidis-MacDougall and Stewart Kelly)

5 – Evening recital at the Nickson Room, University of Queensland, 7pm.

6 – Festival Finale  6pm, Ian Hanger Recital Hall. Stewart performs again with Timothy Young, 1st movement of Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances, Hummel Grande sonata 1st movement.

10 – Recital with Nigel Bardsley (violin) and Iris Doo (viola) for Gold Coast Music Appreciation Club, Auditorium, AVEO Robina. 7pm

3 – 21 Recital season – Queensland Conservatorim. Stewart joins the sessional staff of the string faculty to perform recitals with undergraduate and postgraduate violin, viola and cello students.

7 – Mason & Hamlin Series, Arts Centre Gold Coast. Stewart performs a duo recital with Stephen Emmerson, 2pm.
